Mix Four

After a slight delay (holiday then illness) VibeRide Four is on the webwaves and It's a bass-slapping 49 minutes of funktitude. There's tonnes of energy in this mix and the tempo is high, so hold on to your hat when you flick the switch on this one.

Here's the tracklist:
1). Earth, Wind & Fire - 'Getaway' - from their 1976 album 'Spirit'
2). Jamiroquai - 'Starchild' - from his 2004 album 'Dynamite'
3). Con Funk Shun - 'Chase Me' - from their 1979 album 'Candy'
4). Willie Bobo - 'Always There' - from the 1978 album 'Hell Of An Act To Follow/Bobo'
5). Prince - 'Head' - from the 1993 album 'Hits: B-sides'
6). Brothers Johnson - 'Stomp' - from their 1980 album 'Light Up The Night'
7). Cameo - 'Post Mortem' - from Cameo Gold (remastered) 2003
8). Gene Harris - 'As' - from the 2003 tribute album 'The Wonder of Stevie'
9). Stevie Wonder - 'As If You Read My Mind' - from his 1980 album 'Hotter Than July'
10). Patrice Rushen - 'Let The Music Take Me' - from 'The Essentials: Patrice Rushen' 2002

Jamiroquai, Willie Bobo and Gene Harris make their VibeRide 'debuts' in show four. I heard Willie Bobo's version of 'Always There' (originally a Ronnie Laws creation) on Jazz FM a few weeks back and simply had to get it on VibeRide. Massive sunshine vibes in that tune. Love it.

Ordinarily I'd steer clear of Stevie Wonder covers, but Gene Harris does a fantastic job with 'As' and it deserves its place in this mix.

Jamiroquai has been quiet of late and we're still yet to see him perform live. He's produced some solid tracks down the years and Starchild is one of my favourites. There'll be a few more from him in shows to come.

'Getaway' is one of those signature Earth, Wind & Fire tracks, which many people know and never sounds out of date. 'Head' is another little gem from the Prince B-sides album; its funk in a way that only Prince can do.
